Fair Haven

Fair Haven is a small municipality in Monmouth County on the Rumson peninsula, along the Navesink River. The town is surrounded by Rumson to the east, Red Bank to the west, and Little Silver to the south. The Garden State Parkway is less than five miles away and there are plenty of options for commuters, who can take the NJ Transit North Jersey Coastal Line from nearby Little Silver or Red Bank Station. Academy Bus offers weekday transportation from to both the Port Authority Bus Terminal and Wall Street. Fair Haven residents can also drive to the city or ride the Seastreak ferry from Highlands to New York City.

The Navesink River offers fishing, sailing (there are 2 yacht clubs in town), crabbing and beautiful views. Residents run or walk their dogs at the 40-acre Fair Haven Natural Area which offers so many pretty, winding trails. There are plenty of great restaurants and eateries right in town, and neighboring towns just expand those options. In summer, there’s a great kids camp offered right in town and to add to the small town retro feel, the Fair Haven Public Schools do not offer bussing, so kids are often seen riding bikes or walking to school. Students in ninth through twelfth grades attend Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in Rumson. The high school has garnered many awards and high rankings statewide and nationwide. In 2016, it was listed as one of America’s Best High Schools by Newsweek. The athletic teams at the high school are also of note with multiple championship titles for various sports. Private schools in the area include The Rumson Country Day School in Rumson for pre-K through eighth grade, Holy Cross School in Rumson for pre-K through eighth grade, and Red Bank Catholic High School for ninth through twelfth grade.
