Red Bank
Situated on the scenic Navesink River, just 15 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and popular beaches, Red Bank is a trendy walkable town with a vibrant cultural scene. There’s a chic, urban feel to Red Bank with its loads of great shopping, restaurants and walkability, yet it still has a slower pace and small town feel. Since the pandemic began in 2020, there’s been a huge influx of young professionals from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jersey City and Hoboken. It’s urban enough, with easy access to beaches and the many surrounding parks and nature trails.
Red Bank’s diverse restaurants, boutiques and art galleries do not disappoint! I love Teak and Via Sposito. JBJ Soul Kitchen is local rocker Jon Bon Jovi’s labor of love, a donation-based community restaurant. There are so many great coffee spots and bars with live music; Red Bank is hopping on the weekends!
The town is home to the famous Count Basie Center for the Arts, where you can see everything from rock bands to comedy and shows put on by the Two River Theater Company, an outstanding professional regional theater company.
Red Bank celebrates all year long, from its annual Sidewalk Sale to its Christmas tree lighting and parade. And summer brings Broadwalk, when parts of Broad Street are closed off to become a pedestrian-only hangout for outdoor dining. The waterfront is a big part of the town’s appeal and host to many of the town’s celebrations and entertainment. Riverside Gardens Park is the town’s most popular, offering summer concerts and moonlit movies. Marine Park is just to the east and meanders along the waterfront and marina.
Single-family homes in Red Bank range between $450,000 and $900,000. There are over a dozen condo communities, with one-bedrooms starting at $400,000. There is a somewhat new condo building, Southbank at the Navesink, offering luxury units starting at $2.2 million. Public school students start at Red Bank Primary School for pre-kindergarten through third grade. Red Bank Middle School is for grades four through eight. Grades nine through 12 attend Red Bank Regional High School, rated an A by Niche. Red Bank Charter School is another public school option, a lottery-based program with a waitlist for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
Red Bank is centrally located in Monmouth County, 10 minutes from the Jersey Shore and approximately an hour from New York City and Philadelphia. Red Bank Train Station provides NJ Transit service to Penn Station in as fast as an hour and 15 minutes. The Seastreak ferry in nearby Highlands is another option, reaching Wall Street in 40 minutes.
